Chuck Lai - Chief Product Officer & Co-Founder
I am an avid online shopper. For the last 8 years, I have been building web applications in a product management and product development role. Over the years, I have developed strong entrepreneurial desires which combined with my passion for online shopping led me to start Sprenzy. Our mission at Sprenzy is to build a better comparison shopping experience.
Background
After immigrating to the US at an early age, I grew up in Allentown, PA and attended undergrad at Penn State where I majored in Aerospace Engineering. Unable to find a job in the aerospace industry in the early 90’s, I worked in the telecom industry at Bell Atlantic for several years. Looking for a change and warmer weather, I headed out west to the University of Arizona for business school where I concentrated in MIS.
After b-school, I moved to San Francisco where I worked for a former big 5 4 3 2 consulting firm and several internet consultancies during the dot com boom and crash. I gained a lot of valuable experience during this time building websites for clients such as Continental Airlines, Orbitz, Microsoft, HP, Sprint and Garnier.
Last year, I started working at CNET Networks where I was in charge of product development for mySimon. My experience at CNET was very rewarding, however, the entrepreneurial itch growing throughout the years had become too big to ignore.
From a career and personal perspective it was now or never. So I convinced my co-founder, Peter, to start a new business with me and build a better comparison shopping site. In April 2006, we started the journey to build Sprenzy.
