Patrn Silver is called young or "joven" tequila. A similarity may be made to a young or nouvelle wine. To be truthful, The Aztecs made the original tequila, a drink calle pulque, produced from the fermented juice of the mezcal (agave) plant. Hacienda Corralejo was founded in 1755 and was the first commercial producer of tequila in Mexico, with copper pot stills from Spain, wood-fired adobe brickovens, and French oak barrels for aging. Today, over 200 years later, production continues at Corralejo much as it did in the past.
