These leather sandals are made down in the port city of Malindi, which is on the Indian Ocean in the country of Kenya. There are many around Kenya that make this style of sandal however most of them glue the leather to the sole rather than sew it on as this woman does in her shop. After using pedal sewing machines to sew up the sandal it is then handed to other artisans who hand sew the beads onto the leather straps. These sandals come in different sizes and style. Some of the sandals come with a toe and ankle strap while others come in the thong style where your toes fit between a leather strap.
