Black & Decker FC150B 1500 Watts Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking

Black Decker FC150B 1500 Watts Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking

Enjoy microwave-oven-like cooking speed and traditional oven-like performance with this unique countertop appliance. The 1500-watt InfraWave oven cooks using specific wavelengths of light that are emitted from high-power light bulbs. That means instant heat with no preheating and faster results than what traditional toaster ovens can offer. And since its intelligent profiling system cycles the cooking lights according to the type of food being cooked, there's no need to worry about what temperature to cook at. The oven provides a control panel with an LCD screen and 52 digital pre-settings for one-touch ease. For example, select from functions including pizza, quick foods, cookies, toast, reheat, bake/roast, or broil, and the digital display allows for scrolling through a variety of choices. The unit toasts in about two minutes and browns and crisps superbly.

Black Decker FC150B 1500 Watts Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking
Product Description

The ingenious Infrawave technology cooks meat on the outside and on the inside at the same time. Amazon Review Much promise, poor product

Author's Rating:   1

After our beloved Panasonic infrawave toaster oven finally died (which Panasonic no longer makes), we checked the customer ratings and bought this toaster oven (although had I checked Consumer Reports, I would have seen that this oven had one of the lowest ratings for a toaster oven). For the first few days it burned everything it tried to toast, even on the lowest settings; a week later, the bottom infrared elements died, which sort of ended the life of the oven. So, be wary of this product, as there may be some issues with the 'infrawave' heating elements (in fact the manufacturer told the supplier to have us throw it away and only wanted the power cord in return). However, the good news is that the company from which we bought this oven (Active Forever) was great in handling the return, and gave us a full refund.

Amazon Review Happy with this purchase

Author's Rating:   4

We've had this toaster/oven for more than a year now and have been very happy with it. We mostly use it as a toaster and sometimes cook and re-heat with it. It is by far the fastest toaster we have ever had. At first it didn't seem to toast both sides evely (the bottom not toasted as well as the top), but after using it for a while this doesn't seem to be an issue any more. When cooking it is much quicker than a conventional oven. I suppose our only complaint is that it's not easy to figure out how to cook something that specifies a certain temperature and time. I have to look at the manual to be sure of what I'm doing. Overall this has been a great toaser/oven.

Amazon Review Countertop Oven

Author's Rating:   1

I got this oven around Nov 20, 2007. It worked ok at first, but it does take longer to cook most items than advertised. Now it only works in the "toast" category. All other categories start but then all the lights go out, the display goes out and the oven turns off immediately upon touching the "start" key. Pretty expensive "TOASTER!" Also, the racks are very cheaply made.

Amazon Review Hate this contraption!

Author's Rating:   2

I have owned this for about 6 months now and it is kind of useless in my opinion. The learning curve to operate this thing is ridiculous and it really doesn't seem to cook my food any faster. I put in some frozen mushroom bites recently and the outside burned and the inside was still frozen! I wish that I had sprung for a convection...

Amazon Review InfraWave Oven Review

Author's Rating:   5

This oven surpassed our expectations. We have made numerous items in this oven and have been very pleased. Meats stay nice and moist while browning nicely, toast comes out perfect, cookies can be made moist or crisp, French Bread Pizza comes out with a crispy crust and moist and browned toppings. We were amazed by the ease of operation. We use it all the time now. If I can borrow a phrase " Try it you'll like it!"

Amazon Review Poorly Constructed

Author's Rating:   1

I bought this product Nov. 07. It worked great for about two months. Then all of a sudden all the light came on and would not turn off. I called Applica, the company that covers the warranty, and they very kindly sent me a new unit. All I had to do was cut the plug off the old unit and return it. They even supplied the packaging and postage. Well that was Jan. 08 and now it is March 08 and the bottom heating elements do not come on at all. So I have to turn the bread over to make toast. I contacted Applica for a refund. They don't do refunds (read the fine print). Now they will send me another unit which I really don't want because I think the thing must be very poorly constructed for two new units to have so many problems. I should have bought a regular old toaster oven. This was a very expensive and time consuming lesson.

Amazon Review Handsome and elegant

Author's Rating:   4

I'm a huge fan of toast---bagels, bread, rolls, you name it---and the InfraWave produces perfect toast every time. (Elwood Blues would love this thing.) What's more, it's cool to watch it brown up under the intense light.
My fingers are crossed, however, that nothing goes wrong with the unit, because it's contolled by a microprocessor and this spells big bucks if it's ever in need of repair. I can see it getting tossed out with the rest of the electronic stuff because it's "cheaper to buy a new one than repair." I guess that's the price one pays for technology.
This notwithstanding, I think almost anyone would be pleased with the way it looks, cooks, and cleans easily.

Amazon Review I've had mine for 4 months!!

Author's Rating:   2

I ordered mine from tv. As soon as I got it i started cooking everything in it. It does cooks just about anything faster. I bought it to save some time. It really does make french fries crispy, left over pizza new again, muffins take a little longer though, i cooked christmas dinner in it & just about anything else. I thought it was gonna replace most my cooking appliances, but AS I SAID BEFORE I'VE HAD IT FOR 4 MONTHS & IT DIED THIS MORNING!! IT'S A LOT TO PAY FOR A COUPLE MONTHS OF USE, I THOUGHT IT WOULD ATLEAST WORK FOR A YEAR, BUT NOW I'M BACK TO USING MY OVEN, TOASTER, & MICROWAVE!! BUT IT WAS THE PERFECT KITCHEN ADDITION, OTHERWISE!!

Amazon Review This product is exactly as advertised

Author's Rating:   5

The Infrawave oven is just the thing, especially for one living alone. Every thing that I have cooked with it has turned out perfectly.

I believe that those experiencing unsatisfactory results probably haven't read the owner's manual or haven't followed the recipe instructions.

I no longer have a problem looking for smaller amounts of food in the market so as not to have leftovers. I now buy what looks right for me and put it into the freezer until I want to cook it. A great time saver!!

Oven capacity is too small, oven racks and pans are cheaply made. I don't think B&D intended to make a quality product, just one for tv promo's.

Pros:  Well-fitting, -designed&attractive. Spacious enough inside, cooks great. Excellent value for provided features.

Cons:  Short cord. LCD needs backlight. Pans not nonstick. 1-year warranty (HSN year for $8).

The Bottom Line:  If you want a fine, versatile, functional toaster oven that only is outperformed by a major-appliance oven, this is the one you want.
