I purchased this shoe in Hawaii for walking on the beach. The shoe does not flip-up or flop-down it stays secure to the bottom of the foot. Sand does not flip upward on each step as with flip-flops. I live in the desert and my feet never sweat when I wear them. I now own 3 pair.
