Wireless Detector, Package Qty: 1
The Hawking HWL2 is an advanced version of the HWL1 and improves on many functions of the previous model. The most obvious is the addtion of a Hi-Speed Wireless-G USB 2.0 Network Adapter as well as the ability to differentiate wireless networks with security enabled. The addition of a WiFi Adapter allows the user to detect an 802.11b or 802.11g wireless signal and efforlessly connect to that signal by attaching their laptop or desktop directly to the HWL2 via USB 2.0.

Good Product - Poor Rebate system
Pros: Good connectivity for weak signals
Cons: No continuous detection mode.
The Bottom Line: null
Review: Hawking products are OK, but do not purchase ANY product from the company that has a rebate attached to it. The rebate processing center they use is terrible. Don't expect your check in the time stated. The detector works as advertised and was very... Read Full Review by trapoza, Dec 27, 2005
Hawking HWL2 WiFi Locator&Antenna
Pros: Detects WiFi availability and signal characteristics. Works as a directional antenna. Standard USB connector cable.
Cons: Signal report does not remain on, making pinpoint location impossible. Marginal instruction book.
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you need it. I didn't see any other detector/antenna combinations on the market. It works for me, I just with the signal stayed on longer.
Review: This machine does what I ask it to do but I don't care for it. That's a personal problem, not a failing of the WiFi locator. This machine is about the size of a deck of playing cards. It has a plastic case that's coated to look like fake chrome. In my... Read Full Review by witling, Dec 25, 2005
Much Better Reception Than Built-In Wi-Fi
Pros: Excellent reception. Maintains a strong, reliable data stream
Cons: Case is cheap looking and flimsy. Support is difficult to contact and slow to respond.
The Bottom Line: null
Review: This gadget gives me much better Wi-Fi reception on my laptop and fewer drop-outs than my computer's built-in WiFi adapter. The included software and configuration utility is much more flexible than using the Windows-XP configuration software. Its built... Read Full Review by lewisedge, Dec 15, 2005
