Wireless connectivity, 54 Mbps
Expand the range of your wireless network! The Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander is the easy way to increase the effective coverage of your wireless network. Unlike adding a traditional access point to your network to expand wireless coverage, the Wireless-G Range Expander does not need to be connected to the network by a data cable. Just put it within range of your main access point or wireless router, and it bounces the signals out to remote wireless devices.

Review: I recently moved into a bigger house, and the office is located in the far right corner. This is where my router is and I had no signal on the other side of the house and only 1-2 bars upstairs. I kept disconnecting if I left my office so whats the... Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander: After Some Set Up Help, It's All Good
Pros: Works as designed, plugs right into the wall and sits upright without bracketing
Cons: Will probably need to spend time configuring your router
The Bottom Line: It doesn't work right out of the box, but after some help from customer service, it worked exactly as designed.
Review: I recently bought a new iMac for myself and gave the old iMac to the kids. I got them a computer desk and moved the iMac into the room, except there was one major problem. There was no wireless signal in their room. Oddly enough, I could take my laptop... Read Full Review by roheblius, Dec 22, 2007
Pros: IT IS A GREAT IDEA------IF YOU CAN GET IT TO WORK!
Cons: MOST OF THE TIME YOU CAN'T!
The Bottom Line: null
Review: This is not what I would expect from Linksys in terms of quality or excellent support. I have purchased several of this company's products and was very happy with all of them, Until I stumbled on this. The setup was impossible! and as someone earlier... Pros: Small unit. Easy to move from one area to another.
Cons: Set up was impossible Customer service contact was a waste of time
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this unit.
Review: Tried for over three hours and many attempts and re-attempts but could not get this repeater set up. Before each re-attempt, I reset the unit and started over. Each effort failed and although the unit's lights indicated complete set up, it prevented all... Read Full Review by spbonhartwell, Mar 26, 2007
Pros: Works right out of the box for XP or prior OS.
Cons: Difficult to setup a secure network.
The Bottom Line: null
Review: I've had my Extender for about 2 years now for a notebook computer running windows XP. I took advantage of a notebook sale and later discovered Vista can only detect the Main router signal and not my extender. The linksys site shows what components are... Don't expect 54mbps from the WRE54G
Pros: Once configured, has worked perfectly Good technical support from Linksys
Cons: Expect network speed to cut in half, you wont get 54mbps Poor instructions
The Bottom Line: null
Review: I bought a WRT54GSv4 router, which gave very good coverage to the far end of my house. But thinking I would like to boost the signal, I lashed out for a WRE54G range expander. Afer a couple of hours of checking firmware versions, turning SSID back on,... Read Full Review by big-mike1954, May 16, 2006
Instructions for setting up the WRE54G
Pros: you can unplug and take in another room, settings are saved.
Cons: hard to setup without good instructions
The Bottom Line: excellent connection to my internet and I can carry the unit and laptop to another room and have the same excellent connection
Review: I had a problem figuring out what Mac address to use in the setup for unit. So I put in till I got the right one and the blue light stayed on when I saved the settings. Next, when all finished and you have the unit programmed you have to go back to... Read Full Review by gardengirl57, Sep 16, 2005
Pros: Best Buy refunded my money w/o questions.
Cons: works w/ only 3 of the LinkSys routers and nothing else.
The Bottom Line: null
Review: this RE is barely at alpha. Cisco ought to use some of its router technology in the LinkSys stuff now that they own them. If not, LinkSys may turn out to be a money pit. This RE simply is not ready for release. Too many things wrong w/ it and it... Read Full Review by nabemono, Jul 25, 2005
Pros: Seems to give a strong signal

The Bottom Line: null
Review: Read the fine print. Not compatible with many Linksys models. I bought min at CompUSA and the store guy and I even thought we had checked compatibility. Turns out we were off by a single... Read Full Review by ggsmithiii, Jul 20, 2005
Lives Down to my Linksys Expectations
Pros: Wireless AP repeater; doesn't require network cabling to be attached; works with WAP54G, WRTG54G, WRT54GS
Cons: Minimum requirements (for AP units) not defined on packaging. Installation still returns critical errors.
The Bottom Line: Recommended if you can place it near your computer (no barriers between unit and computer).
Review: I live in a two story single family home. Nothing fancy. However, my computers have , well, sprawled. Luckily my Linksys WAP54G covers the primary areas of the home where I use my Sony VAIO laptop, Apple Mac G5 and where my wife uses her Apple... Read Full Review by blankgm, Jun 19, 2005
